8K Race and 1K Kids Fun Run
Autism Speaks is excited to bring back this unique racing distance to Dallas/Fort Worth. The 8K Race and 1K Fun Run originated in Austin and was voted the best new Race for 2013. So, I look forward to seeing similar success here in our community.
So, why an 8K? The number eight (8) is significant to Autism Speaks because in 2008, 1 in 88 kids were diagnosed with autism. To date, 1 in 68 children are diagnosed and the numbers continue to rise. Autism Speaks awarded 900 grants to local service providers and organization across the US totaling almost $8M* in funds that have gone back to the community. So indeed the number 8 is significant in the autism community.
The race committee, volunteers, and members of the autism community are beyond grateful for all the support for this event and are looking forward to a great race on Saturday, May 7, 2016!
ABOUT THE COURSE
ABOUT THE EVENT
Both races start on the Coyote Drive-In property. The 8K runners will proceed onto the Trinity Trails of Fort Worth while the 1K Kids run will be around the property. In both cases the terrain varies from sidewalk to gravel to grass. Please be prepared for all conditions.
This is a one-loop course has a wide variety of terrains from gravel to grass. It is a beautiful run with very few hills. Three water stations will be available along the way at the 1 mile , 2.3 miles and at 3 1/3 mile.
Volunteers will be staged to pass out water to racers. A final aide station with water and food will be at the end of the race. Unfortunately, the course terrain is not conducive for strollers.

Note: There are no timing chips to pick-up or wear – they will be attached to your bib.
Race Shirts:
Race tech-tees are available at packet pick up. You must be registered for the race in order to receive a t-shirt. Please only pick-up the shirt size you requested during registration.
Course Cut-off:
All participants of the 8k must complete the course within two hours (11:30AM). A sweep vehicle will pick-up anyone that has not finished the course in the allotted time.
Awards:
The awards ceremony will follow each scheduled event.
Race Results:
Official results will be scored by chip time. Results will be available at the DoMore Racing tent during the event, available online, and also available via real-time text-message or Facebook post (participants must have selected this option during registration).
